As practitioners working to help people with their bodies, deciphering individual patterns can be confusing and complex. The truth of our own bodies can be mysterious enough, but helping our clients with their bodies requires the ability to see who they are, and what their patterns are, with clarity.
Aston Techniques I lays the groundwork for sensitive insightful interaction with ourselves and our clients which can open the doors to more balance and ease, more strength and resilience, and freer movement with fewer limitations.
This introduction to the Aston paradigm teaches a clear and understandable approach to the human structure and it’s movement. Aston Techniques I gives you the opportunity to experience movement in your own body and observe it in others. Accurately seeing body patterns is essential in getting to the root of the problem and revealing a resolution. This class clarifies fundamental principles of our structural and neurologic truth as dynamic beings on the planet, refining our approach to our own movement and our work with clients.

About the instructor:
Laura Servid has been exploring patterns in human movement for over 30 years. As an Occupational Therapist, she began in rehab work with stroke patients for many years. Moving on to rehab of repetitive motion and back injury, she began to see a commonality in patterns of dysfunction linking our evolutionary development and our individual development. In 1988 she began studying with Judith Aston, and found that the principles of Aston-Patterning formed a basis for working with all kinds of physical issues, supporting the body in all realms - structurally, neurologically, psychologically, emotionally and spiritually. This truth has kept her fascinated and intrigued through thousands of sessions with individual clients and in the evolution of her own being. She has published numerous articles/chapters about the Aston work, done ergonomics training with local companies, and presented at WOTA and IASI conferences, Her students say she is an “excellent teacher, very clear and easy to understand”, and “wonderfully able to present concepts in visual, kinesthetic and verbal ways.” January 22nd, 23rd and 24th, 2010
