CLASS #1:
ANATOMY FUNDAMENTALS
|
Pre-requisite for all subsequent anatomy classes. This class covers essential anatomical terminology used throughout the scientific and health care professions.
We will practice using the directional vocabulary. This class also addresses the different types of tissues, including bones, joints, ligaments, tendons, cartilage, muscle, and neural.
|
CLASS #2
AXIAL SKELETON and ANATOMY of BREATHING |
This class includes a close exploration of the skull, vertebral column, vertebral ligaments, intervertebral discs, and ribcage. You will locate and palpate important bony landmarks.
This class also covers the structures and the mechanical dynamics of breathing as well as appropriate and inappropriate breathing strategies. Learning how we breathe is essential
in teaching Pilates.
|
CLASS #3
ANATOMY of the PELVIS and MUSCLES of the INNER CORE |
What makes up our inner core? We’ll do an in-depth study of these local stabilizers and the anatomy of the pelvis.
Learn and review exercises that allow us to find and feel our deep
muscles working! We will also cover all of the abdominal muscles.
|
CLASS #4
BACK and NECK MUSCULATURE INCLUDING “THE CERVICAL
CORE” |
Look at the various layers of our back and neck musculature. Learn which structures are responsible for neck stabilization, common faulty muscle dominance patterns, and proper
head and neck movement patterns.
|
CLASS #5
LOWER APPENDICULAR SKELETON and MUSCULATURE of the
HIP, THIGH and LEG
|
We’ll discuss bony anatomy and alignment of the lower quarter, look at the joints and their movements, and study the muscles that are emphasized so often in Pilates.
Expand your knowledge to appreciate the inter-relationships of these muscles groups
|
CLASS #6
UPPER APPENDICULAR SKELETON and MUSCULATURE of the
SHOULDER, ARM, and FOREARM
